Now that smoking and trans-fats are out of their restaurants, some restaurant owners have found a new enemy to battle: plastic water bottles. Owners are now starting to pledge to push tap water in place of bottle water.
Many restaurants are simply installing good water filters onto their faucets and are offering guests the option of the filtered tap water or paying a higher price for bottle water, in the hope that most people will choose tap water. Other owners are going even farther: vowing to no longer serve any bottled water and only offering guests filtered tap water.
These restaurant owners are fighting against the bottled water trend because of the impact it has on the environment. In most instances water bottles are not recycled, they are simply thrown out with the garbage. Many people also point to the amount of pollution created by all of the big trucks that drive across the country delivering the bottles of water. These owners have determined that they would rather pay a little right now for the water filters for their faucets and continuously wash water glasses than continue to contribute to what they consider to be a harmful activity when the Earth is concerned.
It is easy to switch over to serving filtered tap water with the purchase of a good water filter.
