In light of the rising energy and food prices, the National Restaurant Association is asking Congress to help restaurant owners. The NRA announced today that it sent a letter to every member of Congress asking them to do something about all of the rising prices.
The NRA says that the letters remind Congress that the restaurant industry not only has to deal with the rising prices they must face but also a decrease in customers because they are feeling the pinch. The letter tells the senators and representatives that restaurants are facing increasing fuel prices, higher costs of food, and lower profits, all of which are contributing to major struggles for many business owners. The NRA's senior vice president of government affairs and public policy, John Gay, signed the letter that stresses that these unstable conditions threaten not only restaurant owners but the entire industry. In the letter, the NRA acknowledged that it will take many measures and lots of time to solve this problem and they urged Congress to start working to find a solution.
