Pizza Supplies – Caring for hard coated pizza pan
American Metalcraft has some great tips on caring for hard-coat pizza pans. Before you use a hard coat pizza pan for the first time it is important to season the pizza pan. To season a hard coated pizza pan wash the pizza pan in warm, soapy water and quickly dry. Next wipe oil on the inside and outside surfaces of the pizza pan and allow the oil to soak for 30 minutes. After the oil has soaked on the hard coat pizza pan, bake it at regular temperature and time. Be careful not to over-bake the pizza pan and not wash-off the excess oil; just wipe-off the excess oil. The oil residue and any additional oil added before backing will make the hard coat pizza pan stick-resistant.
Be sure to take care when washing hard coated pizza pans. It is best to hand-wash hard coat pizza pans with warm water and a soft sponge (scouring hard coat pizza pans can cause the pan to thin). When choosing a cleaner, make sure you pick one that is specifically made for aluminum. Be sure to dry hard coated pizza pans immediately.
